PHARMAKONS
These wax works are made in conjunction with tarot and astrology readings, and they act as spells or symbolic containers for the client's intentions and desires that emerge during a reading. After the reading, I source herbs and plants which resonate with key tarot cards or astrological placements in the reading, drawing on correspondences between plants, planets and the tarot. I cast these plants, along with paint rags and other herbs for protection, in semi-translucent wax slabs. These pieces act as symbolic and material links to the client's desired intention, and can be used in ritual work as well.
Pharmakon is an Ancient Greek word which took on many different meanings depending on its context: it could be both a remedy and a poison, medicine or a drug, a charm, a spell, artificial color, or paint.
